With the Gossamer Gala!
Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus is a nonprofit organization that is changing the way the healthcare community, pharmaceutical companies, governmental agencies, the general public and those living with lupus understand the disease, its diagnosis and its treatment. We want those living with lupus to know that they are not alone, we are here to support them, and we are dedicated to making a difference.
We, at Molly’s Fund, dedicate the majority of our fundraising dollars to programs and outreach. Two of our largest fundraising events – the Serving Up Style campaign and the Butterfly Walk – directly fund our client assistance program, as well as help us raise awareness of lupus, to continue our mission and vision for earlier diagnosis, support and advocacy on behalf of those with lupus.
You can make a difference this year by participating in our last course of our Serving Up Style campaign – the Gossamer Gala! Your participation and donations help to improve the lives of those in the lupus community.
Our Gossamer Gala will be held on Saturday, October 22nd from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This is a “Portland Formal” affair (mask encouraged) featuring the music of Patrick Lamb! Patrick Lamb is known as the ‘saxophonist to the stars’ and has toured with Grammy winners and luminaries like Gino Vannelli, Bobby Caldwell, Jeff Lorber Fusion, Tommy Thayer, Diane Schuur, Bobby Kimball, Alice Cooper, and Smokey Robinson. Patrick’s last three singles made top 5 nationally on the Billboard Charts on his independent label. Additionally, he has been inducted as one of the youngest members into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and recently received the Independent Spirit Award by the city of Portland.
With entrainment like that, how could you miss out? Join Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus for an evening of fun, folly, fancy footwork, facts and fundraising. Let us remove the mask of lupus!

Why call it a gossamer gala, you ask? The symbolism of “gossamer wings” or a “butterfly” is very significant to those living with lupus. Most lupus individuals will suffer from the “butterfly” rash (or malar rash) at some duration of their illness. This rash stretches across the cheeks and bridge of the nose, resembling the shape of a butterfly. Therefore, the butterfly has become a symbol for those suffering with lupus. The gossamer gala also makes another poignant point with choosing to make this a masquerade ball. Since many people feel they have to “hide” their rash or the fact that they have lupus, (due to shame, intolerance or misunderstanding of the illness) this is an opportunity to bring lupus out of the shadows and allow those living with it to remove their masks!
We appreciate all donations made towards this special night of fundraising. And if you are not located in the Portland area, you can buy a virtual seat! For more information, click on the registration link below!
