What to Expect
- Skin:
- rashes, particularly a purple "butterfly" or "wolf" rash on the face, neck and scalp. Hives and other sores, hair loss.
- Brain & Head:
- inflammation of the brain's blood vessels, which can cause seizures, persisent and unusual headaches, memory loss, confusion, psychosis.
- Eyes:
- puffy eyelids, sensitivity to light, infections
- Lungs:
- shortness of breath, pain in chest from deep breathing, pulmonary hypertension, pleurisy
- Kidneys:
- infections, inflammation leading to organ failure and a need for dialysis
- Heart:
- atherosclerotic heart disease or hardening of the arteries which can lead to heart attack; myocarditis, an inflammation of the hearts muscle, which can lead to congestive heart failure.
- Stomach / Digestive Tract:
- nausea, vomiting, recurring and persistent abdominal pain, bladder infections, blood in urine
- Glands:
- soreness and coughing
- Legs and Feet:
- Persistent Swelling.
